1. Q3 Private Investment Report of Indian Economy

  • A continued rise in private investments in the third quarter (Q3) of 2020-21, led by a 102% surge in manufacturing investments, helped India register a healthy 10.3% increase in fresh project spending in Q3 over the previous quarter.
  • However, new capital expenditure proposals from the government collapsed between October and December 2020, as funding constraints began to pinch the States, dragging their new project investments down nearly 25% from the previous quarter.
  • The sequential increase registered in fresh projects by the private sector of 102.5% in the second quarter, and 36.5% in the third quarter, indicates willingness of private promoters to undertake new capacity building in the future.
  • This comes especially in critical areas like drugs & pharma, electronics, data centres, IT parks, etc.

3. Bharat Parv

  • Bharat Parv is a five-day festival organised by Ministry of Tourism (India), Government of India to showcase the cuisine and culture of different states of India.
  • The festival is held annually at the end of January.
  • Bharat Parv 2021 scheduled from January 26 – 31, 2021 will be organized on a virtual platform by Ministry of Tourism, due to Covid pandemic situation.

4. Schedule of Olympics Games, 2020

  • The 2020 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXII Olympiad, and also known as Tokyo, is an upcoming international multi-sport event scheduled to be held from 23 July to 8 August 2021 in Tokyo, Japan.
  • Originally due to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the event was postponed in March 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Despite being rescheduled for 2021, the Games have retained the "Tokyo 2020" name for marketing and branding purposes.
  • This is the first time that the Olympic Games have been postponed and rescheduled, rather than cancelled.

 

5. Black Box of Plane / Flight Recorder

  • A flight recorder is an electronic recording device placed in an aircraft for the purpose of facilitating the investigation of aviation accidents and incidents.
  • Flight recorders are also known by the misnomer black box—they are, in fact, painted bright orange in color to aid in their recovery after accidents.
  • There are two different flight recorder devices: the flight data recorder (FDR) preserves the recent history of the flight through the recording of dozens of parameters collected several times per second; the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) preserves the recent history of the sounds in the cockpit, including the conversation of the pilots.

 

6. Soekarno-Hatta International Airport

  • Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, abbreviated SHIA or Soetta, formerly legally called Jakarta Cengkareng Airport, is the primary airport serving the Jakarta metropolitan area on the island of Java in Indonesia.
  • Named after the first president and vice-president of Indonesia, Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta, the airport is located at Benda, Tangerang, which is about 20 km northwest of Central Jakarta.
  • The airport commenced domestic operations on 1 May 1985 replacing the old over-capacity Kemayoran Airport.

 

7. Salwa Border

  • Border between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
  • It is 87 km (54 m) in length and runs from the Gulf of Bahrain coast in the west to the Persian Gulf coast in the east.
  • The Salwa Canal is a proposed shipping route and tourism project through Saudi Arabia along its border with Qatar, effectively turning the latter into an island.

 

8. Vanadium found in Arunachal Pradesh

  • Vanadium is a chemical element with the symbol V.It is a scarce element, hard, silvery grey, ductile and malleable transition metal with good structural strength.
  • Concentrations of vanadium have been found in the palaeo-­proterozoic (era) carbonaceous phyllite rocks in the Depo and Tamang areas of Papum Pare district in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • There are other potential sites in various districts in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • This is the first report of a primary deposit of vanadium in India.

 

9. COWIN Software

  • Co-Win is the digital platform for Covid-19 Vaccination Delivery programme.
  • This mobile app records vaccine data and the process of forming database of healthcare workers is in an advanced stage across all states and Union Territories.
  • CoWin-20 app is divided into five modules to registration for Covid-19 vaccine and tracking of the vaccination programme smooth.
  • These are administrator module, registration module, vaccination module, beneficiary acknowledgement module, and report module.

 

10. Two Houses of Parliament of Nepal

  • According to the Constitution of Nepal 2015, Nepal has a two-chamber Parliament, consisting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly, with the President of Nepal acting as their head.
  • The House of Representatives has 275 members. 165 members are elected from single-member constituencies by first-past-the-post voting and 110 elected through proportional electoral system where voters vote for political parties, considering the whole country as a single election constituency.
  • The National Assembly has 59 members. Eight members are elected from each of the seven provinces by an electoral college of each province, and three are appointed by the President on recommendation of the government.

 

11. Metals that will play role in Electric Mobility- lithium and Cobalt

  • Lithium is the lightest metal and the least dense solid element and, in the latter part of the 20th century, became important as an anode material in lithium batteries.
  • The element's high electrochemical potential makes it a valuable component of high energy-density rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
  • Cobalt is key for boosting energy density and battery life because it keeps the layered structure stable as lithium ions get reversibly stuffed into and extracted from the cathode during battery operation.
